Hey guys! Today I’m going to be sharing some makeup that I recently purchased and received for Christmas. As you probably know, I love trying out new makeup products and creating fun looks with them! After all, “makeup” is in the name of the site you’re currently on. I plan on doing tutorials with a lot of these products so stay tuned for those. This post isn’t a complete review as I haven’t thoroughly tested all of the products, but I will be giving my first impressions! I hope you enjoy.
This palette is so unique, I love the color scheme. Most of the colors seem very pigmented, especially the matte colors and the warm-toned shimmers. The white duo-chrome shade “Low-key” and the purple shade “Chill” aren’t extremely pigmented, but they still look nice as eyeshadow toppers. My favorite shades are “Sassy” and “Happy”, they make a gorgeous warm-toned matte look when paired with the tan shade “Fresh”.
Profusion Mixed Metals Palette
Unfortunately this palette isn’t available anymore, but I love all Profusion eyeshadows so if you like the look of this palette I definitely recommend checking out their other ones! The Profusion formula rivals a lot of high-end palettes that I’ve tried. In my opinion, the stand-out shade in this palette is “Shimmy”. This gold shade is STUNNING all over the lid with a warm brown in the crease. The highlight shades are too dark for my skin tone but they also look nice as eyeshadows.
This truly is the greatest palette I’ve ever tried. It is so easy to blend, so pigmented, the colors are stunning…..agh, I can’t believe I didn’t try it sooner. This palette is perfect for traveling because it contains a matte cream shade for a base and a matte black shade you can use as an eyeliner. If you’re looking to invest in a more higher-end palette I highly suggest trying this one!
I’d heard such great things about this highlight so I decided to finally try it out…I wasn’t disappointed. It is EXTREMELY blinding, a little goes a very long way. The undertone is stunning, I feel like it would match a wide variety of skin tones. However, I don’t like the way this applies with a fan brush. It contains little specks of glitter which aren’t very apparent when applied with a denser brush, but when applied with a fan brush it just looks like you rubbed glitter on your face. I think I’ll leave glittery cheeks to Disney fairies and Instagram models. I get that some people may be into that but it’s just not my favorite look, don’t come after me. I like using a small, dense, tapered brush to apply it – this creates a nice, even sheen.
I recently lost my favorite Butter Gloss so I had to buy another one to replace it. It’s my go-to for a low-maintenance nude lip, I love it! A quick swipe’n’smack (wow, I should trademark that) will set you for a couple of hours. They have a lot of other shades too, I want to try out some more.
Wet’n’Wild Photo Focus Foundation
Guys. I’m not usually a foundation person but this stuff is amazinggggg. Yes, it may smell slightly like paint thinner, but it makes your skin look bomb so I can live with it. I apply this with a damp beauty sponge and it looks so natural, yet makes your skin look flawless. I have a lot of texture on my forehead and foundations usually cling to it, but not this one! It’s only $6 which is crazy to me, they could charge a lot more. I’d say it’s about medium coverage, but you can build it up to full if you wanted to.
I’m usually not a huge fan of metallic lip colors, but this one is beautiful. It has a burgundy-rose base with a gold reflect that looks stunning when the light hits it. This is a very bold color and not wearable every day for me personally, but I think it would look nice on special occasions! I got this as a free gift for purchasing other ABH products from Ulta.
“Frog” is basically multi-dimensional glitter with a clear base. It looks beautiful over top of any color to give it an extra boost of shiny goodness. I’m not entirely sure why they chose the name “Frog”, nothing about this gorgeous glittery eyeshadow reminds me of a slimy little amphibian. Not hating or anything….I’m just not the biggest fan of frogs, except for maybe those cute tiny ones that are the size of your thumb nail. I can tolerate those.
“Sequin” is a vibrant rusty red that would be beautiful in the fall paired with oranges and deep browns. This name feels much more appropriate to the color, it makes you envision sparkly, beautiful things instead of who Tiana kissed. (Also, don’t @ me but I’ve never disliked a Disney princess movie more than I disliked that one. It was way too creepy for my 8 year old self to handle.)
I’ve been obsessed with this lipstick ever since I got it! The color is the perfect neutral mauve, it goes with so many looks without overpowering them. It’s not a very long-wearing formula as it doesn’t dry down, but it’s easy to apply so having to touch it up during the day isn’t an issue to me.
I’d never tried out shadow sticks before receiving these for Christmas and I’ve really enjoyed these so far! The colors are very intense, but they’re easy to blend out as long as you do it while they’re still wet. Once they dry, they’re not going ANYWHERE. I’d recommend using micellar water to remove them as it works better than a regular makeup wipe.
Maybelline Lash Sensational Serum
I bought this on a whim just to see if it would make any sort of difference in my lashes. It’s only been about a week of using it, but my lashes already look a bit longer and fuller. I’m not kidding. I don’t know if it’s just in my head or what, but they definitely look better than they did before.
Last, but definitely not least, we have this tiny bottle of custom enhancer drops. First off, I’m obsessed with how adorable this is. Everyone needs a tiny bottle of custom enhancer drops in their life. Secondly, one drop of this magic potion is more than enough to be glowing to the high heavens. Goodness gracious, this stuff is pigmented. It’s a tiny bit too dark for me so I mix it with a moisturizer before applying it to sheer it out a little bit. It also looks stunning under foundation on the high points of the face, but I don’t recommend mixing it into your foundation unless you want a glittery face! This was another free sample courtesy of the generous people in the Ulta marketing department.
I hope you enjoyed this post! I’m looking forward to continuing to test out these products and sharing some fun looks with all of you amazing people. Have a wonderful week, everyone!
